MakerBar is run by members, for members, from members’ dues and donations. If you’re looking for a pressure-free home for your hobbies and a gathering ground of cool people ready to share their skills, consider becoming a MakerBar member!
Full members enjoy 24/7 access to the space with their own set of keys, a shelf to store projects and personal stuff, access to shared tools and parts, and free classes. They can bring guests along and participate in all MakerBar activities. Full membership dues are $100 per month.
Discounts are available as well. Student memberships are $100 per semester (four months) but do not include keys or storage space.
Members’ dues support the MakerBar’s activities, keeping our awesome space leased and lit! If you’d like to become a member, speak to any member at one of our open activities!

very interested… next step?
Great to hear! Show up to a few meetings and get to know the crew. You can see our meeting schedule at meetup.com/makerbar. Introduce yourself at [email protected] as well!
I’m VERY interested in checking this out. I’d like to meet like minded people. Does Makerbar have a “Facebook” or better yet a “Google Plus” Account?
Please do! Every Wednesday and Friday, we run free open house events from 7 til very late. Our selection of kits and our members’ projects change often, so come soon!
The MakerBar is on Twitter @MakerBar, Meetup, and this blog. Many members are on G+ and FB, so search and friend us!
Wow! I had no idea there was a hackerspace in Hoboken. I was considering getting the ball rolling on starting one in Fort Lee but now that I know you guys are around, I’d love to become a member. How do I go about doing that?
The first step is to show up a few times to meet the members, so we can find out if your’re cool enough to become a member*. Come to some open houses on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7 or later, or other events, and get to know us.
*Not an axe-wielding nut job and actually interested in hacking
Greetings! I am looking forward to meeting youse all when I get a chance, and probably joining officially at some point. Question: Is there a policy of bringing kids? Age limits? Separate memberships? (Not even going to ask about bringing more than one at a time because I don’t even have more than one in my garage with me when I’m working).
Thanks!
A few of our members bring their kids to the space regularly, so you’re welcome to! If you’re interested, come to a couple of open houses on Wednesdays and Fridays to get to know the group!
